This blog is a collection of random stories, anecdotes and thoughts in general. I started it back in September 2004 when my lifestyle as a wanderer began with an exchange trip to France. As the people, places and shenanigans blur together this blog is as much a tool to remind myself of what I have done and who I have met as it is to inform my friends and family that I am, in fact, still alive.

Going Beyond My Limits
If you thought i was unlucky before you didn't know the half of it. My physio told me to take it easy with my snowboarding but I got a bit excited and carried away. She told me to stick to groomed green runs and I have been spending most of my time on blues and blacks and unnamed runs in between the trees- it has been incredible and i have been having a ball. Of course the bubble was bound to burst and I have managed to injure myself again. Yesterday I went off the marked areas and into the out of bounds section and hiked up a hill to a stupidly big jump. We're talking a jump i shouldn't have been any where near at this point; injury or not, because I just don't have the skills to handle it.
So after flying through the air, landing... and then catching an edge I wiped out pretty badly, did about 4 or 5 somersaults until I stopped and right before coming to a complete stop I heard a clicking/popping sound in my knee.
Wait
It gets better
My OTHER knee.
Yup
This is not a joke, I am not making this up.
It is not, however, as bad as it sounds. I went down to the physio yesterday and after she had finished berating me for my stupidity she concluded that I had merely bruised my MCL and medial meniscus. I can walk OK with some minor pain and ultimately I should be back to normal in a week or two.
I am taking this as a positive learning experience for me to be more mindful and progress more gradually. My new plan is to not ride with people like Felix who are 10X better than me-in fact I will probably ride by myself largely to avoid the temptation to showboat. To stick to green and blue runs for a while and to take lessons as much as I can. To spend a lot of time riding switch (with your other foot forward)
I'm great aren't I?
